Portable Google Earth is a complete three-dimensional interactive atlas. The first thing you see when you open it is the globe, a world map by which to move the mouse. The search box on the left will take you on a smooth flight to the place you choose.
Layers are the big attraction of Google Earth. Each one adds satellite images to an enormous amount of information, road networks, buildings in three dimensions, traffic and weather, attractions and even photographs of the streets in cities where Street View available.
Not everything is exploring aimlessly. Google Earth can save images and markers on the network share, and print whatever you're watching. With Google tools Earth, measure distances or areas is very easy. It is also compatible with many GPS data formats. And if you want to have fun, there's even a simple flight simulator.
Despite being an impressive application, Google Earth does not require a powerful computer. However, a fast connection it will be almost essential to make your virtual tours are fully satisfactory.
